If you have observed carefully you cannot import Facebook contacts into Google but you can do the reverse.You have to guess whether this is Google’s ignorance or inability.However it is causing a great deal of inconvenience as it is easier to find people on facebook but the mail service on facebook is not anywhere near Gmail.Also looking up to each person’s info in Facebook and then adding them as a contact in Gmail is too cumbersome.In this tutorial i will be showing how we can export the Facebook contacts as a .csv file and later import the same in Gmail.The csv format is also used for storing contacts in android phones.Thus it will be very useful in the long run.I am proposing two methods to solve our problem:
Method 1
Type Export contacts in Facebook search bar.You will get some apps to do the job.But i don’t recommend it as it is not the official way to do it and there are privacy concerns.Last thing you would want is the bombardment of advertisements on your wall by that app.Also Facebook APIs don’t expose email addresses of users and hence none of the Facebook apps can provide you with the actual contact data of your friends
Method 2
Go to address.yahoo.com and click the Facebook icon. A login dialog should pop-up, just sign-in with your Facebook credentials.If you are doing this for the first time then you might be asked to allow access to personal info etc just like any facebook app.once you are done with that,you will be directed to the yahoo contacts page.Now click on tools drop down menu and select import option.You will now be asked choose one of the networking/mail sites.Once you click on Facebook icon it should start importing contacts after certain prompts.Now go back to yahoo contacts.select export option in the tools menu and you will be directed to export contacts web page.Select the first option(Microsoft outlook) and save it on your local disk.
Now in your Gmail account click on Contacts,you will be directed to the contacts webpage.Click on the “more actions” drop down list and select import.Now enter the path for the csv file you saved earlier.Now all your facebook contacts will be successfully imported into Gmail.
You can also import the CSV file into LinkedIn, your phone address book or any of the social sites where you want to connect with your existing Facebook circle.
